Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, raising over $2.5 million for cancer prevention.
The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF). This surpasses the 2024 total by over $100,000, demonstrating the continued success of this annual speedrunning marathon. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many others across various gaming genres.
AGDQ, a major biannual event organized by Games Done Quick (GDQ), complements the Summer Games Done Quick marathon held in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, including Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Notably, a special Disaster Relief Done Quick event in October 2024 raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.
This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a swift Pikmin (Switch) run by Ray0ken. The event's remarkable fundraising success contributes to PCF's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and community outreach. This collaboration between GDQ and PCF has yielded over $26 million in donations across multiple events.
A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi run by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's soundtrack to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid race, showcasing the competitive spirit of speedrunning.
Looking ahead, GDQ will host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis from July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
