Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging Constantine 2 update yet, confirming the project is ready for a script.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 live-action film, a cult classic following Reeves' success with The Matrix. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality after Reeves confirmed a recent successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay,’” Reeves told Inverse. “So, we're going to try and write a script.”

While promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the script. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU, and neither Gunn nor Safran has publicly acknowledged its potential. The project remains precarious.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain consistent with the original film's universe. "We're not going off that," he assured, adding with a touch of humor: "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more.”
Reeves' announcement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September, who stated that a Constantine 2 script existed but he was hesitant to read it, hoping for a high-quality outcome.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura revealed, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough,” he said. “I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
