Merchantburg Location

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg's location becomes accessible. With quest markers enabled, you'll find it in the northeast corner of the world map; sailing west from the coast will lead you to the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.

Optimal Timing for Merchantburg

While orb collection order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is highly recommended. The town requires significant growth time before yielding the Yellow Orb. Establishing it early allows you to pursue other orbs concurrently, returning to Merchantburg as needed.

Hire a Merchant: Before heading to Merchantburg, visit PALS in Aliahan and recruit a new merchant. Minimize combat on your way to keep your new party member safe.
Establishing the Town: In Merchantburg's lone building, you'll meet an old man seeking a merchant to found the town. Assign your newly hired merchant, establishing the town's name.

Merchantburg Stages of Growth

Merchantburg's Growth: After establishing the town, focus on obtaining the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and the Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). During this time, you'll receive notifications prompting you to revisit Merchantburg. The town will progress through five stages of growth, culminating in a large cabaret. On your fourth visit, you'll notice the merchant becoming unpopular.
The Final Visit: Return to Merchantburg at night on your fifth visit. You'll find the merchant imprisoned following a town revolt. Speak with him; he'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location.
Claiming the Orb: Go back to the merchant's former home. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground to uncover the Yellow Orb.
