Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update Highlights:
The highly anticipated Khorovod event has arrived, featuring special tasks, rewards, and a unique game mode. Players must light and defend a Christmas tree in six different locations.
A groundbreaking addition is the Prestige system, similar to Call of Duty's prestige mechanics. Level 55 players who complete specific quests and gather sufficient resources can reset their character, retaining some gear and earning exclusive rewards unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. While only two prestige levels are currently available, eight more are planned.
Beyond Prestige, the update boasts significant improvements:
- Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when your character catches a cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter provide relief.
- Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
- Customs Map Overhaul: Revamped textures, new objects, and points of interest.
- New Weaponry: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
- Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items.
- New Questline: A new quest chain involving a BTR Driver.
- Hideout Customization: Expanded options for personalizing your hideout.
- Continuous Healing: A new continuous healing mechanic.
- Recoil Adjustments: Recoil balancing and visual improvements.
- Extensive Balancing and Fixes: Numerous balance changes and bug fixes.
The update also includes the standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, ensuring players have a fresh start and plenty to explore.
