Two classic GBA racing games from the F-Zero franchise are speeding onto the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack!
F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend Join Switch Online
Launching October 11, 2024
Nintendo's announcement brings the high-octane thrills of F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-only F-Zero Climax to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, available October 11th.
The F-Zero series, Nintendo's futuristic racing franchise, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990) and quickly gained recognition for its groundbreaking speed and visuals on systems like the SNES. Its influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing games like SEGA's Daytona USA.
Like Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense racing, track obstacles, and competitive battles between racers and their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, remained region-locked until now, marking a 19-year wait for global players. This gap, according to F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura, was partly due to the immense popularity of Nintendo's Mario Kart series.
This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack delivers both titles, offering Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials for players to conquer. Get ready to compete for the top spot!
