Minecraft Celebrates 15 Years and Gears Up for an Exciting Future!
Fifteen years after its release, Minecraft continues to thrive! Mojang Studios is committed to keeping the game fresh and engaging with a series of exciting updates and improvements. Get ready for a whole lot more Minecraft!
What's Coming Next?
Prepare for a more frequent release schedule! Instead of a single large summer update, Mojang will be rolling out multiple smaller updates throughout the year.
Minecraft Live is also getting a revamp. The annual October event will become a bi-annual affair, with two shows per year. The popular mob vote is being retired, but this means you'll receive more frequent updates on upcoming features and testing phases.
Multiplayer improvements are on the horizon, making it easier for players to connect and team up with friends. A native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft is also in development.
Beyond the game itself, an animated series and a Minecraft movie are currently in production. It's incredible to see how far the game, originally conceived as "Cave Game" in 2009, has come!
The Power of Community
Mojang acknowledges the significant role the Minecraft community plays in shaping the game's future. The cherry groves from the Trails & Tales Update, for instance, originated from a player suggestion.
Even the new wolf variations, featuring biome-specific skins, were inspired by community feedback. This feedback also helped strengthen the wolf armor. So, if you've ever shared suggestions or feedback, know that you're directly contributing to Minecraft's evolution!
