T.S. Nowlin, known for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, has joined to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement remains uncertain, he was previously attached to the adaptation.
Adding considerable weight to the project, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also involved in another major video game adaptation: Ghost of Tsushima.
Sifu, released in 2022, was a critical and commercial success, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a young kung fu student's quest for revenge after their master's murder. A mystical pendant allows resurrection, but at the cost of accelerated aging, adding a unique layer to the protagonist's perilous journey.
