Pokemon GO Tour: Unova Brings Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta!
Get ready, trainers! Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, alongside the debut of Shiny Meloetta. Learn how to capture and fuse these legendary Pokémon below!
Legendary Pokémon Debut in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following last December's announcement, Niantic has revealed exciting new details for the February 2025 Unova Tour. The event will mark the first appearance of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta in Pokémon GO.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, will have the chance to capture and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat either Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem.
Once you've caught Kyurem, the fusion process begins! Choose to fuse it with either Zekrom or Reshiram to create Black Kyurem or White Kyurem, respectively. This fusion unlocks unique attacks: Freeze Shock for Black Kyurem and Ice Burn for White Kyurem. Here's what you'll need:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Earn Fusion Energy by conquering Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversing the fusion back to base Kyurem requires no energy or candy. Plus, you'll have increased odds of encountering Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom throughout the event!
For those unable to attend the in-person events, a global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global, will take place on March 1st and 2nd, 2025. This free event requires no ticket.
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration
In addition to Kyurem's alternate forms, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event attendees can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about the time limit; the Masterwork Research won't expire, giving you plenty of time to complete it.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta initially appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of the main series games, introducing the Unova region. The first three are obtainable during the main storyline, while Meloetta is a post-game reward. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, which—just like in Pokémon GO—can learn Ice Burn and Freeze Shock.
With the arrival of the Tao Trio's alternate forms in Pokémon GO, first for a limited time in February and then globally in March, trainers can fully experience the wonders of Unova!
