Forspoken, a year post-release, continues to spark heated discussions among players, even with its PS Plus free-to-play availability. The game's reception remains sharply divided, with those who played it for free echoing similar sentiments to those who paid full price.
The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium additions, including Forspoken and Sonic Frontiers, generated unexpectedly positive player feedback. However, this initial enthusiasm waned for some. Many abandoned Forspoken after a few hours, citing poor storytelling and "ridiculous dialogue" as major drawbacks. While others appreciated the combat, parkour, and exploration aspects, a prevailing opinion suggests that the narrative and dialogue significantly detract from the overall experience.
It seems unlikely that PS Plus will significantly revitalize Forspoken's fortunes, given its inherent inconsistencies. The action RPG follows Frey, a young New Yorker, who is magically transported to the breathtaking yet perilous land of Athia. Armed with newfound magical abilities, Frey must navigate this expansive realm, battle formidable creatures, and defeat powerful matriarchs known as the Tants, all while searching for a way back home.
