The Witcher Saga Continues: Ciri Takes Center Stage in Witcher 4
Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3 captivated gamers, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, shifting the focus to Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shines on the next generation of Witchers.
The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a superstitious ritual, showcasing her unwavering resolve to prevent a young woman's sacrifice to a monster. However, the situation proves far more complex than initially perceived.
While no release date is set, considering the development timelines of The Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for The Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform exclusivity remains unconfirmed, but given the anticipated release window, a current-generation console focus (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is highly likely. A Switch port, while possible on a future iteration of the console (Switch 2), seems less probable compared to the previous game's success on the original Switch.
Though gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements: potions, Signs, and signature Witcher combat. A new addition might be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role, fueling speculation of a mentor-like figure guiding Ciri's journey.
