Conquer the Black Flame: A Nu Udra Guide for Monster Hunter Wilds
Nu Udra, the fearsome Black Flame, reigns as the apex predator of Monster Hunter Wilds' Oilwell Basin. This guide details strategies for defeating and capturing this formidable beast.
Nu Udra Weak Points & Effective Tactics:
- Known Habitats: Oilwell Basin
- Breakable Parts: Head and Arms (severing arms yields extra materials)
- Elemental Weakness: Fire (use Watermoss to mitigate its fire attacks)
- Recommended Elemental Attack: Water
- Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (1x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)
- Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap
Combat Strategies:
- Melee Weapon Users: Target the tentacles for optimal reach, but be wary of their power.
- Ranged Weapon Users: Prioritize attacking the mouth (4-star weakness). The head is a viable alternative (3-star weakness to ammo, strong against blunt and cut damage).
- Watermoss is Key: Nu Udra's fire affinity makes Watermoss essential for countering its fire attacks and the Fireblight debuff.
- Fire Resistance is Crucial: Equip fire-resistant gear, such as the Quematrice armor set, or decorations like the Fire Res Jewel or Stream Jewel (for increased Water Attack).
- Avoid the Grab: Nu Udra's grab attack is devastating. If grabbed, use a knife to escape or use your Slinger to attack its weak point during the brief pause before the fire attack.
Capturing Nu Udra:
To capture Nu Udra, weaken it significantly (indicated by a skull icon next to its health bar) before deploying a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Lure it into the trap using meat or simply run behind it as it targets you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer (you have about five seconds before it breaks free).
Multiplayer Advantage: This fight is challenging solo; consider utilizing multiplayer for a significant advantage.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
