Krafton’s termination of its agreement with Ironmace will result in a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile. While Krafton denies the change is related to Ironmace’s recent $6 million lawsuit settlement with Nexon over alleged trade secret misuse, the timing is certainly suspicious. The lawsuit centers on claims that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used confidential information from Nexon’s cancelled “P3” project to develop Dark and Darker.
Despite the controversy and severed partnership, Krafton assures players that the mobile game’s global launch remains on schedule. The game will be released as a fully independent title under a new name, effectively removing Ironmace’s involvement. This move is ironic, considering Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement.
The situation raises questions about the ethics of the legal battle and its impact on the game’s future. However, the termination of the agreement and the impending name change do not appear to affect the planned global release. We will provide updates should any further developments occur.
