Appy Monkeys, an India-based developer, has unveiled Lokko, a new 3D platformer created in collaboration with Sony's India Hero Project. This exciting project highlights the burgeoning game development scene in India, a region increasingly contributing to the global gaming landscape. Lokko offers a unique blend of features, promising a fresh take on the genre.
Lokko is a 3D platformer featuring extensive level editors and a detailed avatar creator. Players take on the role of a pizza delivery person battling the monopolistic Goobol food corporation. The game's core gameplay loop revolves around timely pizza deliveries amidst competitive challenges.
What truly sets Lokko apart is its cross-platform compatibility and cross-play functionality across mobile, PC, and PS5. Furthermore, it leverages DualShock features on all three platforms, ensuring a consistent and optimized gaming experience regardless of the device used.
Lokko incorporates many elements found in successful modern games, including character customization and level creation tools. Its relatively low-poly aesthetic is reminiscent of titles like Roblox, yet it benefits from the backing of PlayStation, potentially offering a compelling alternative to similar platforms. While the gameplay mechanics may not be entirely revolutionary, the execution appears promising and showcases the talent of Appy Monkeys.
The India Hero Project, a Sony initiative supporting Indian developers, has clearly fostered innovation with Lokko.
