The Chinese Room has provided an exciting update on Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, shedding new light on the vampire hunters faction known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). Operating on a shadow budget without government support, these hunters target vampires, referred to as "Hollow Ones," under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the charge in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined and pragmatic leader committed to the permanent eradication of vampires. Known as "The Hen" among her followers due to her authoritative nature, Baker meticulously investigates odd occurrences and delves into historical data to uncover the links to the secretive vampire society. Her dedication and strategic approach make her a formidable opponent.
The hunters of the IAB are highly organized and secure their base with external and internal defenses. Facing them solo is daunting, as they work in coordinated teams, using spotlights and staying in constant communication through portable radios. In combat, they employ thermic batons that can bypass defensive tactics and phosphorous grenades to flush out foes from hiding spots. Their sniper crossbows shoot explosive bolts that can cause severe damage if not promptly removed.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. They are physically weaker than both ghouls and vampires, making them susceptible to certain countermeasures. For instance, characters with the Fire skill can intercept grenades or bolts in mid-air and hurl them back. Additionally, players utilizing the Ventru clan's powers can possess an enemy, turning them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising players an immersive experience filled with strategic combat and intriguing narrative developments.
