APKMirror Installer assists you in installing APK files along with APKM, XAPK, and APKS app bundles.

What is the purpose of this app?

APKMirror Installer is a utility application designed to help you install .apkm, .xapk, and .apks app bundle files, as well as standard APK files.

We have also included a popular bonus feature for regular APK files: If a sideload attempt fails and you wish to understand why, you can now view the precise failure reason by starting the installation process through APKMirror Installer.

Split APKs – What are they?

At Google I/O in mid-2018, Google unveiled a new dynamic app delivery format named Android App Bundles. We strongly suggest reading this AndroidPolice article, as its diagrams make the concept much clearer.

For a quick overview: Before app bundles, developers either built a single "fat" APK containing all libraries and resources, or manually handled multiple APK variants (e.g., for arm64 320dpi, x86 320dpi, arm64 640dpi, etc.).

The new App Bundles enable developers to shift the complexity of managing variants to Google, which then splits the app release into several components—hence the term "split APKs." Each release then includes a base APK plus one or more APK splits.

For instance, a single release might now consist of 5 files: base.apk + arm64.split.apk + 320dpi.split.apk + en-us.lang.split.apk + es-es.lang.split.apk.

Unfortunately, you cannot install these APK splits simply by tapping on them on your device—only the base APK can be installed this way, which will likely crash due to missing resources.

This is the problem that APK Mirror Installer solves.

Okay, so what exactly are .apkm files?

As more apps adopt the split APK format, which cannot be easily shared or installed without a helper tool, APKMirror has created a solution to adapt to these changes and continue offering a simple, safe sideloading experience.

Each .apkm file contains a base APK along with a set of split APKs. After installing APK Mirror Installer and downloading the desired .apkm file, simply tap the file or use the app to locate your download. You can review the exact contents of each .apkm file and choose to install only the splits you need, saving space on your device.

Developing APK Mirror Installer and its supporting infrastructure required many months of work at significant expense, so we appreciate your understanding regarding the app and website being ad-supported. For users who prefer no in-app ads, various subscription plans are available to remove ads and access extra features.

Known Issues and Bugs

Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco MIUI Users

Regrettably, Xiaomi has modified MIUI, specifically altering the part of Android that APKMirror Installer relies on for installing split APKs.

A workaround that typically helps is to disable MIUI optimizations in your device's developer settings. Please try this step; installation should then proceed successfully.
