Master the art of reading: pronounce letter sounds, not names!

Learning to read is a journey. A key element in a child's reading development is the involvement of a supportive adult. Guided practice with an adult allows children to observe lip movements and learn correct sound pronunciation.

Start with simple letters and common words, focusing solely on the sounds of the letters, not their names. Begin with shared practice, gradually transitioning to independent use of the application, with occasional return to joint sessions. Later, engage in word discovery exercises like this:

  1. Ask the child to pronounce the sounds of the letters in the word "TREE."
  2. After some practice, ask, "What did you say?"
  3. Resist the urge to tell the child the word.

Repeat this, encouraging faster pronunciation of the letter sounds. The goal is to shorten the pauses between sounds. Continue this exercise, patiently waiting for the child to independently identify the word. The moment they say, "I said TREE!", celebrate their success – they've started reading!

Soon, a strong interest in reading will emerge. This is the time to gradually introduce more complex letter sounds, like the variations of "C" (soft as in "sky," hard as in "house"). Other previously omitted letters can be added. Remember to respect each child's unique pace and learning style.
