Durak: Classic & Transferable

The card game "Durak" ("Fool") is one of the most popular and widely played card games across the former Soviet Union. In this implementation, you can play "Durak" offline without an internet connection, using a deck of 24, 36, or 52 cards.

"Durak" ("Fool") has two main versions: "Throw-in Fool" (Durak Podkidnoy) and "Transferable Fool" (Durak Perevodnoy). While the rules share certain similarities, each variant has its own distinct nuances.

The objective of the game is to be the first to get rid of all your cards. The player who does so wins, while the last player left with cards becomes the "fool" (durak).

Throw-in Fool (Durak Podkidnoy) is the classic version. In this mode, when the attacker has no more cards to throw at the defender, the player to the defender's left may throw one additional card. Once that card is beaten, the attacker regains the right to throw. If the left-hand player has nothing to throw, the opportunity passes clockwise to the next player. Every player gets a turn to throw, which is why this version is known as "Throw-in Fool" or simply "classic Durak."

Transferable Fool (Durak Perevodnoy) expands the rules, making the game even more dynamic. From the second turn onward, the defending player can "transfer" an attacking card by playing another card of the same rank but a different suit. The player to their left then becomes the new defender—who may also transfer the attack further. This passing of defense gives the game its name: "Transferable Fool."
