Ubisoft Mainz has given us a closer look at Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, in a new trailer. Previous announcements highlighted Lazio and Albion as key regions, but the trailer suggests Lazio serves as a tutorial area before the main game unfolds in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that the initially peaceful Lazio is disrupted by a catastrophic event, forcing players to seek refuge and establish a new settlement in the challenging lands of Britain (Albion). Albion presents a harsh environment: a brutal climate, hostile tribes, and significant distance from Rome, creating unique governance challenges.
Players take on the role of a governor, tasked with establishing a thriving settlement in Albion. The game emphasizes diplomacy and understanding local customs as viable alternatives to military conquest. A notable feature is the ability to customize ships, choosing between speed enhancements (via oarsmen) and increased firepower (with archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
