Take-Two Interactive Reiterates Fall 2025 Release for Grand Theft Auto 6
Despite industry speculation, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, maintains its projected fall 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation came during their third-quarter financial results report (ending December 31, 2024).
While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the fall 2025 timeframe, stating that the company feels "really good about it." He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to quality, highlighting their pursuit of perfection.
Zelnick remained tight-lipped regarding the game's development progress, only mentioning its high anticipation both internally and externally. He stressed the competitive landscape and Rockstar's commitment to delivering a top-tier product.
The GTA 6 release date remains a significant topic in the gaming industry, with competitors like EA adjusting their release strategies accordingly. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently indicated a willingness to delay the next Battlefield title, suggesting GTA 6's impact on the market.
The absence of a second trailer, over a year after the first, fuels ongoing fan speculation. This, along with questions surrounding PC availability and PS5 Pro performance, continues to generate significant buzz.
Meanwhile, Take-Two reported impressive sales figures for its other titles: Grand Theft Auto 5 has surpassed 210 million units sold worldwide, while GTA Online experienced a strong quarter. Red Dead Redemption 2 has also exceeded 70 million units sold and is currently experiencing record concurrent players on Steam.
Take-Two's 2025 lineup is packed, including Civilization 7, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4, alongside the highly anticipated GTA 6. The company expressed strong optimism about the commercial success of its upcoming releases.
