Stellar Blade's 2025 PC Release Confirmed: A Closer Look
Following its PlayStation exclusive launch in April, SHIFT UP has officially announced that the action-packed sci-fi title, Stellar Blade, will be making its way to PC in 2025. This announcement follows earlier speculation fueled by hints from SHIFT UP's CFO.
The decision to bring Stellar Blade to PC is driven by the rising popularity of PC gaming and the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong, leading SHIFT UP to anticipate strong PC sales. While a specific release date remains unannounced, the developer plans to maintain the game's momentum through various strategies. This includes the upcoming November 20th release of a collaboration DLC with NieR: Automata and the highly requested Photo Mode, along with continued marketing efforts.
However, the PC release introduces a potential concern. As a Sony-published title and with SHIFT UP's second-party developer status, a PSN account link for Steam might be required. This could exclude players in regions lacking PSN access. While Sony cites "safety" for its live-service games as justification, this requirement for single-player titles like Stellar Blade raises questions.
The necessity of a PSN account for the PC version remains uncertain. Given SHIFT UP's IP ownership, it's possible this requirement might not be implemented. However, such a restriction could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of surpassing console sales.
