Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

Author : Eleanor Update:May 04,2025

Amazon has introduced Alexa+, an enhanced version of its popular voice assistant, now available in Early Access. This upgraded assistant, powered by generative AI, promises more natural and flowing conversations. According to Amazon, "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." Early Access is currently limited to select Echo Show models: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or plan to purchase one of these devices, you can sign up for notifications about when Early Access will become available. After the Early Access phase, Alexa+ will be offered as a free benefit to Amazon Prime members, or for $19.99/month to non-Prime users.

With its conversational approach, Alexa+ is designed to handle a wide array of tasks seamlessly. You can ask it to manage your to-do list, retrieve specific calendar details, book a restaurant, and more. Amazon's Alexa+ Early Access page mentions that "new features are being added regularly," indicating that more capabilities will be unveiled post-Early Access.

However, not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices such as the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon has plans to extend Alexa+ to additional devices, including Fire TV and Fire tablets, and Alexa.com in the near future.
