Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, launching this March, has added a significant voice actor to its roster. Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece series, will lend his voice to a key character, Gennojo, in both English and Japanese.

Set in feudal Japan, Assassin's Creed Shadows introduces Gennojo, a complex and pivotal character described by Ubisoft as charming yet reckless, a conflicted figure driven by guilt to reform a corrupt system. He's characterized as a charismatic rogue, a master of deception, and a witty trickster. His strong sense of justice, particularly towards the vulnerable, fuels his dangerous quest to dismantle the corrupt regime, even at the cost of his own life.
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his importance to the narrative is confirmed. Mackenyu himself revealed that Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League" and can essentially be recruited as a companion, assisting the player throughout their journey. This suggests a significant role in the game's missions and overall gameplay experience.
