Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a thrilling new addition to the beloved Avatar universe: "Avatar: Seven Havens." To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the iconic series, "Avatar: The Last Airbender," creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have unveiled this exciting 26-episode, 2D animated series. "Avatar: Seven Havens" will follow the journey of a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world fractured by a catastrophic event.
According to the press release from Nickelodeon, "Seven Havens" is set in a world "shattered by a devastating cataclysm." In this perilous new era, the young Earthbender protagonist discovers her destiny as the Avatar, a title that now brands her as humanity's destroyer rather than its savior. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to unravel their enigmatic origins and rescue the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.
Expressing their enthusiasm, DiMartino and Konietzko stated, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we'd still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters." The series will be structured into two seasons, each consisting of a 13-episode book, co-created by DiMartino and Konietzko along with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains undisclosed, anticipation is high for this new chapter in the Avatar saga.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also busy with a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. Scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, this movie promises to take fans on a fresh adventure with the beloved character.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios has also announced a range of new projects including books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game on Roblox, all designed to honor this significant milestone in the Avatar franchise.
