Bandai Namco is taking another exciting swing at bringing the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices with the launch of Digimon Alysion, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game. This free-to-play game is set to hit Android and iOS platforms, though an exact release date remains under wraps.
The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. At the event, Bandai Namco also shared exciting updates, such as the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc slated for April 2025. They released a special video to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime and unveiled a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, fans can look forward to a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, coming to consoles and PC.
If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same
It's important to note that Digimon Alysion is not a direct port of the physical card game. Instead, it introduces a unique feature called ‘DigiAly’ cards, alongside the original cards designed specifically for this digital version. Bandai Namco is also adding new Digimon and characters to the mix.
The character lineup showcased on the website is predominantly an all-girls cast, which marks a somewhat unusual direction for a digital card game. This choice has sparked a bit of skepticism among some players who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
Bandai Namco's track record with Digimon mobile games has been less than stellar, with two previous attempts falling short of expectations. This history fuels some hesitation about the potential success of Digimon Alysion. Nevertheless, the anticipation for the game remains high. A closed beta test is on the horizon, though details are still undisclosed. For more information, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
