Second Dinner, a studio based in California, developed the popular game Marvel Snap, which is published by Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Unfortunately, due to the same reasons that led to the ban of other apps like CapCut and Lemon8, Marvel Snap was also removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This unexpected discontinuation has left many players frustrated, particularly over ongoing authorization issues. However, PC players can still access the game through Steam. The developers at Second Dinner were taken aback by this incident and have assured fans that they are diligently working to restore the game's availability. In a statement from Platform X, they emphasized their commitment:
"Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress."
One of the most aggravating aspects of this situation is that players received no prior warning. As a result, many continued to invest in in-game purchases, unaware of the impending lockout. While Marvel Snap faced this issue, not all ByteDance apps were affected; games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible to players.
In other news, Marvel Snap recently introduced an exciting new card, Moonstone. As part of the ongoing archetype, Moonstone is a much-needed addition to the game. With her stats at 4/6, Moonstone has the unique ability to utilize the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards within her lane. Given the current pool of low-cost Ongoing cards, such as Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which primarily boost power, Moonstone stands out by gaining these effects at no additional cost, potentially shifting the game's meta significantly.
