If you've ever fantasized about the life of a postal worker, complete with the nerve-wracking stress of making speedy deliveries under intense pressure, you might find the upcoming satirical, story-adjacent puzzler Boxbound intriguing. In this game, you take on the role of a postal worker alongside your fellow employee, Peter, as you navigate the challenges of stacking boxes, making deliveries, and dealing with strange, world-changing events.
The gameplay in Boxbound is straightforward yet engaging: you must fit variously-shaped boxes onto a snaking grid before making deliveries while driving through city streets, dodging obstacles along the way. The twist comes in the form of unexpected events, such as power outages and debris that need to be cleared from the grid.
Adding to the challenge, the outside world is constantly in motion while you work. Your good friend and colleague, Peter, will keep you updated on the bizarre happenings that drastically and increasingly weirdly alter your work environment.
Neither snow, nor rain...This doesn't even begin to cover the virtually limitless number of levels in Boxbound or the variety of package shapes you'll unlock as you progress. A glance at the trailer hints at the whacky, weird, and somewhat sinister experience that awaits players.
Set to release on March 31st, Boxbound promises a unique charm that will keep players coming back for more. While the gameplay itself might not be my cup of tea, the sight of Peter donning colorful outfits and the indication of chaotic and strange external events—including shipping explosives—piques my curiosity enough to want to explore further.
