Captain America: Brave New World has outperformed expectations, earning a projected $100 million domestically during the Presidents Day holiday weekend.
Box office analytics firm Comscore reports the Marvel film grossed an estimated $88.5 million from 4,105 theaters across three days, with projections reaching $100 million for the extended four-day weekend. Combined with $92.4 million from international markets, the film's global debut stands at approximately $192.4 million.
Deadline reveals the production budget for Captain America: Brave New World reached $180 million, requiring about $425 million in global ticket sales to break even.
The film ranks as the fourth-highest Presidents Day opener in history, trailing behind three other superhero franchises: Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).

Despite its strong opening, Captain America: Brave New World has faced mixed critical reception. IGN's review scored the film 5/10, noting: "While featuring standout performances from Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly, the latest Captain America installment lacks the innovation and boldness its title promises."
The industry now watches to see if the film can sustain its box office momentum, potentially reversing recent struggles for Marvel Cinematic Universe releases (excluding last year's breakout hit Deadpool & Wolverine), as the studio prepares for Thunderbolts* in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
