Choosing Your Faction: A Guide to Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Author : Chloe Update:May 12,2025

In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll embark on a thrilling journey through ancient China, battling alongside iconic warlords. A crucial decision you'll face is choosing a faction to align with. Here's a detailed guide on how to navigate this choice in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

The narrative of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters. Initially, your character, known as the Wanderer, does not commit to any specific faction. Instead, you'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei in various skirmishes and participate in pivotal events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, upon reaching Chapter 3, the game prompts you to make a crucial decision by the chapter's end. By this point, you should have a good understanding of each faction's dynamics, but if you're still undecided, the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed choice.

To advance, you must complete a set number of missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Once you fulfill these requirements, a new mission becomes available, forcing you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll be presented with the option to ally with him or Liu Bei, with the choice to join Liu Bei being unavailable unless his missions are completed as well. You can always go back and complete missions for all factions before making your final decision.

Once you commit to a faction, the others become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You won't be able to undertake sidequests from the officers of the factions you didn't choose, nor will you be able to strengthen bonds with them. This can make the path you choose more challenging. For example, choosing Liu Bei might limit your opportunities to earn skill points from sidequests due to his faction's smaller initial roster of commanding officers.

Each route offers unique missions, so if you're eager to explore all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider saving your game before making your choice. This allows you to reload and experience the different paths with other leaders.

That's the process of selecting a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into the epic battles and strategic alliances of ancient China.
