Developed by Gunfire Games, Darksiders 4 has now been officially announced. Revealed during publisher THQ Nordic's 2025 showcase, you can watch the teaser trailer below and find key gameplay details here.
Similar to its predecessors, Darksiders 4 is a third-person action-adventure set in a lore-rich, post-apocalyptic world. The core gameplay loops of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving all return.
Players will step into the role of one of the legendary Horsemen, each wielding distinct weapons and possessing a unique combat style. The developers describe the cinematic combat as "fast-paced and visceral," seamlessly blending melee attacks, fluid traversal mechanics, and supernatural powers.
While light on narrative specifics, we know the story continues the saga of the Four Horsemen, picking up where the original Darksiders concluded. Store listings also confirm multiple play modes, including online co-op for 2-4 players, single-player, and split-screen options.
The Darksiders franchise began in 2010 with the original title from Vigil Games. It centers on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they battle across a ruined Earth to restore cosmic balance.
A sequel, Darksiders 2, launched in 2012. The series then saw Darksiders 3 from Gunfire Games in 2018, followed by Airship Syndicate's top-down action title Darksiders Genesis in 2019. The franchise has been quiet since, with Gunfire focused on the successful Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2, alongside Chronos: Before the Ashes.
A specific release date for Darksiders 4 has not been announced, but THQ Nordic has opened official wishlisting for the title.
