Author : Charlotte Update:May 15,2025

Boss fights can be daunting, especially when you're not fully prepared. In *The First Berserker: Khazan*, the battles are full of surprises, and facing the Blade Phantom is no exception. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer this challenging foe.

Phase 1

The ghostly voices that haunt Khazan come to life in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass as the Blade Phantom. This formidable enemy tests your stamina management and ability to counter its relentless attacks. It's your first multi-phase boss in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.

The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded by a crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks:

  • A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
  • A three-hit combo of two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks and ending with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo with flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.

In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and red spikes to appear. If it uses a spear, be ready for a quick throw and a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it engages in a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.

Mastering the timing of these attacks allows you to parry or dodge and counterattack, depleting the Blade Phantom's stamina for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the second phase.

Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom launching four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from above. Evacuate the area where the spear lands and brace for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.

While the new claw attacks are introduced, the Blade Phantom mostly sticks to its previous moves in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, with the addition of a spear thrust and follow-up, and four to six sets of swift dual-wielding attacks. It teleports more frequently, and when wielding the greatsword, watch for multiple slashes and the final Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to more attacks.

Strike the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and only initiate the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed to maximize damage and ease your path to victory. Upon defeating the boss, you'll be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.

This guide provides all the essential information you need to beat the Blade Phantom in *The First Berserker: Khazan*. For more tips and strategies, be sure to check out The Escapist.
