First announced in 2018, the Devil May Cry anime is set to premiere with an eight-episode first season. The project is in capable hands, being produced by Adi Shankar, the showrunner of the acclaimed Castlevania series, and animated by Studio Mir, renowned for their work on The Legend of Korra, X-Men '97, and more.
While details about the plot remain closely guarded, it's speculated that the series will focus on Dante, the protagonist from the first three Devil May Cry games, rather than the more recent Devil May Cry 5. However, no official connections to the games have been confirmed yet. Adding to the excitement, Johnny Yong Bosch, known for voicing Nero in the Devil May Cry video games, will lend his voice to Dante in the anime.
The last entry in the Devil May Cry video game series, Devil May Cry 5, was released in 2019 and received widespread acclaim, marking a strong return for the franchise after a period of dormancy since DmC: Devil May Cry in 2013. For fans of action-packed games like Ninja Gaiden Black 2, Devil May Cry 5 is a must-play, offering intense action and thrilling gameplay.
