How To Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6 on Xbox and PS5

Author : Jonathan Update:Mar 15,2025

Online multiplayer gaming has revolutionized the way we play, bringing the *Call of Duty* community closer than ever. However, the cross-platform functionality of games like *Black Ops 6* presents a trade-off. While it expands the player pool, it also introduces potential imbalances. Let's explore whether disabling crossplay is the right choice for you.

Should You Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6?

Disabling crossplay in Black Ops 6 is a decision with significant implications. The primary motivation for disabling it is to level the playing field. Many console players (Xbox and PlayStation) feel disadvantaged when matched against PC players due to the inherent precision advantage of mouse and keyboard controls. The potential for encountering cheaters and modders, even with anti-cheat measures like Ricochet, is another concern. Disabling crossplay theoretically reduces the likelihood of encountering these issues.

However, this comes at a cost. Disabling crossplay significantly shrinks the player pool, potentially leading to longer matchmaking times and less-than-ideal connections with other players. Our experience suggests that finding matches takes considerably longer with crossplay disabled, and the quality of online connections may suffer.

How To Turn Off Crossplay in Black Ops 6

Black Ops 6 Crossplay Setting

Turning off crossplay is relatively simple. Locate the "Crossplay" and "Crossplay Communications" toggles within the Account & Network settings. These are typically found near the top of the settings menu. Simply toggle them from "On" to "Off" using the X or A button on your controller. This can be done from within Black Ops 6, Warzone, or the main Call of Duty menu. Note that the image shows the setting accessed via Quick Settings after being added as a favorite.

You might find the crossplay setting temporarily unavailable. In some game modes, such as Ranked Play, Call of Duty may enforce crossplay. However, Season 2 of Black Ops 6 is expected to offer more player choice regarding crossplay, even in competitive modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
