How to Track the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
About halfway through the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds, in chapter 3, the Black Flame monster will appear briefly before disappearing into the Oilwell Basin. Your objective is to track down and slay it.
Exit the Base Camp and proceed towards Zone 9 in the region, as shown on the map screenshot below.

Along the way, you'll notice tar-like tracks on the ground. Examining them allows your Hunter to pick up the Black Flame's scent trail. This data is automatically fed to your scoutflies, enabling easy tracking to its precise location. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies to Zone 9, home to a large flaming crater, to encounter the Black Flame.
The Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra, is a tentacled beast that employs fire and other flame-based assaults. For an easier fight, we recommend targeting and severing several of its tentacles first. This tactic exposes its inner weak points, allowing you to secure more materials at the end of the hunt.
We also suggest carrying a few Cool Drinks to counteract the area's intense heat, or your health will steadily decline.
That's everything you need to know about finding the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more game tips and information, like changing your Palico's language and capturing monsters, search The Escapist.
