BioWare has largely shifted focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though the remaining team surprised fans by quietly adding a small DLC weapons pack to the game.
Dragon Age fans were stunned when the RPG's Steam page updated yesterday to include free additional content - the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer. While modest, this unexpected content drop comes as a pleasant surprise since EA previously indicated minimal future support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game's fifth patch in January suggested updates would primarily address critical bugs, making this new cosmetic content feel like a minor miracle.

The Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle has an unusual exclusivity window - available only to current owners and new PC purchasers until April 8, 2025. While the official description lacks details, players have discovered it includes Watchful weapon skins accessible through the in-game Rook's quarters. The availability for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remains uncertain.
"Even if these appearances aren't the most visually stunning," notes one Steam review, "they deliver a creepy eldritch horror aesthetic!"
"It's free cosmetic content for a game that's effectively sunset," observed a Redditor. "I'll take what I can get."
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to favorable reviews last October but according to EA, failed to "connect with a wide audience." Key developers announced their departures in January as BioWare downsized, with EA confirming the studio's focus shifted entirely to the next Mass Effect.
The game joined PlayStation Plus March 2025's lineup just four months post-launch. No further development plans have been revealed since these changes.
