In an interesting development, Timon Smektala, game director for the Dying Light series, revealed that the debut trailer for Dying Light: The Beast includes a hidden nod to the game’s setting—one that players haven’t yet discovered. The clue centers on the sprawling woodland area called Castor Woods, with its precise location subtly hinted at through faint text visible in the footage. In addition, this text may offer hints about the regional dialect, which could be essential to solving the puzzle.
Speculation places the game somewhere in Europe, although the exact location is still uncertain. While the first trailer highlights various symbols, structures, and environmental details, players have been unable to determine the exact reference point. Earlier games in the franchise also took cues from real-world settings—the original Dying Light's Harren was inspired by Istanbul, Mumbai, and Wrocław, and its sequel's Villedor blended architectural styles from Germany, Belgium, and Poland.
Dying Light: The Beast will launch this summer on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, though a specific release date has yet to be announced. To mark the series’ tenth anniversary, Techland has released special updates and fan events, including a thank-you tribute video expressing gratitude for the community's ongoing enthusiasm.
