A notable change in Elden Ring: Nightreign is the removal of the in-game messaging system. Director Junya Ishizaki clarified that the approximately forty-minute play sessions don't allow sufficient time for message interaction. He stated, "We disabled the messaging feature because there isn't enough time for sending or reading messages during sessions, which last approximately forty minutes."
