Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute play sessions. The brevity of each session leaves insufficient time for players to effectively utilize the messaging system, both for sending and receiving messages.
This change is notable, given the significant role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
Nightreign stands as a separate adventure, distinct from Elden Ring's main storyline, to preserve the integrity of the original. While offering a fresh experience with unique challenges and encounters, it aims to retain the captivating atmosphere and intricate world design characteristic of Elden Ring.
