Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Releasing The Same Week as Oblivion Remastered Shadow Drops
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been steadily building excitement for its launch when Bethesda unexpectedly shadow dropped the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. The game's publisher, Kepler Interactive, humorously addressed this situation on their official X (formerly Twitter) account on April 22, likening it to the Barbenheimer phenomenon.
For those who recall, Barbenheimer refers to the cultural event in July 2023 when the contrasting films, Barbie and Oppenheimer, premiered on the same day. The stark difference between Barbie's vibrant pink aesthetic and Oppenheimer's somber, intense themes turned into a meme, with fans attending screenings dressed in bright pinks for one and switching to muted grays for the other. Kepler Interactive drew a parallel between this and the simultaneous release of Expedition 33 and Oblivion Remastered.
Despite the surprise launch of Oblivion Remastered, Expedition 33 remains committed to its scheduled release. While many developers might shift their dates to avoid competition, Expedition 33 is forging ahead.
As the release approaches, Expedition 33 has shared the official unlock times for its global launch. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be available simultaneously across all platforms on April 24, 2025, at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT.
