Alienware Area-51 PC Now Supports RTX 5090

Author : Scarlett Update:Nov 10,2025

Dell revived its iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs earlier this year, though initially, it was only available with a single graphics card: the RTX 5080. That limitation no longer applies. Starting today, you can configure your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and, at long last, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, with prices beginning at $5,499.99. An added bonus: Dell projects shipping will begin in early April, so you won't face a lengthy wait.

While the $5,500 configuration is the starting point for an Alienware Area-51 with a 5090 GPU, it still delivers impressive specs. This model features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's newest flagship processor, delivering outstanding performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. Though the performance gain over the i9-14900K is not as substantial as some hoped, it remains the top choice from Intel. A robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler keeps the CPU temperatures in check, and the entire system is powered by a highly efficient 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

What’s New in 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell introduced the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis retains a familiar look from the 2024 R16 model but features redesigned aesthetics and cooling, along with updated internal components. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass side panel now covers the entire side instead of a smaller window. This change eliminates side vents, with air intakes now positioned at the bottom and front of the chassis. Alienware has adopted a positive airflow design (more intake than exhaust), which helps reduce dust buildup inside. The internals have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful PSU to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever Made

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU available today. While NVIDIA has focused on software enhancements, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 to boost in-game performance, the 5090 also delivers a remarkable 25%-30% improvement in raw rasterization performance over the RTX 4090. It also comes with more VRAM (32GB vs. 24GB) and faster GDDR7 memory compared to the 4090's GDDR6. This graphics card is notoriously hard to find at its retail price and is currently selling for between $3,500 and $4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 has officially dethroned the RTX 4090, though the performance leap is more modest compared to previous generations. In traditional, non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational improvements we've seen recently. However, in titles that support DLSS 4, the technology delivers massive performance gains—just be aware that up to 75% of the frames are AI-generated."

Other Prebuilt RTX 5090 Alternatives to Consider

Amazon has listed several Skytech gaming PCs with RTX 5090 graphics cards at an even more appealing price of $4,799.99, including shipping. Please note that these systems do not ship immediately. They are equipped with capable AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors, which offer nearly equivalent gaming performance but lag behind in workstation tasks.
