Fallout Head Teases New Series Chapter

Author : Christian Update:Jan 21,2025

Fallout New Vegas Director Wants to Return to the Franchise Fallout: New Vegas' director, Josh Sawyer, and other key Fallout developers have expressed a strong desire to contribute to a new entry in the series. However, their participation hinges on a crucial factor: creative freedom.

Fallout Developers Eager for a New Game, But With a Condition

Innovation is Key

In a recent YouTube Q&A, Sawyer revealed his enthusiasm for a new Fallout project, but emphasized the importance of creative leeway. He highlighted the need to understand the project's scope and limitations before committing: "Any project depends on 'what are we doing, what are the boundaries, what am I allowed to do and not allowed to do?'"

He further clarified that restrictive constraints would make the project unappealing. "Who wants to work on something where the one thing they want to explore is not possible?"

Sawyer isn't alone in his desire to return to the Fallout universe. Several other developers have voiced similar sentiments. Last year, Fallout co-creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky expressed their interest in a Fallout: New Vegas remaster. In an interview with The Gamer, Cain emphasized the need for innovation: "Every RPG I've ever made offered me something new and different... If someone came to me and said, 'You want to make a Fallout game?' My answer is 'Well, what's new?'"

Fallout New Vegas Director's Conditions for a New GameObsidian's CEO, Feargus Urquhart, also shared his interest in developing another Fallout game, should the opportunity arise. However, in a Game Pressure interview from January of last year, he confirmed that no such project was currently underway. Obsidian's current slate includes Avowed, Grounded, and Outer Worlds 2. Urquhart stated that discussions about new projects might begin towards the end of 2023, adding, "I would love to make another Fallout before I retire."
