FromSoftware's acclaimed title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is making a comeback - not as a sequel, but as a Crunchyroll anime adaptation premiering in 2026.
Originally published by Activision in 2019, Sekiro achieved both critical praise and commercial success with over 10 million copies sold. While fans awaited a sequel, FromSoftware shifted focus to its record-breaking Elden Ring release.
The anime adaptation, titled Sekiro: No Defeat, was announced by Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH. Promising to capture the game's signature precision, this entirely hand-drawn production will stream globally on Crunchyroll (excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus).
Official description:
Honoring the original masterpiece, Sekiro: No Defeat brings to life the game's gripping narrative - a story of honor and vengeance set in a mystical Sengoku-era Japan.
Director Kenichi Kutsuna stated: "Animating the visually stunning world of Sekiro is both a privilege and a monumental challenge. Our team is injecting every frame with artistic passion to create something truly special."
"We're crafting an experience that will resonate equally with longtime fans and newcomers alike. This adaptation will leave a lasting impression - we can't wait to share it with the world," Kutsuna added.
