The success story at Games Workshop, the creators of Warhammer 40,000, continues to unfold as the company proudly announced a £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus for its employees. This generous gesture comes on the heels of a stellar financial performance for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025.
The Nottingham-based company reported a core revenue of £560 million, a significant increase from the previous period's £494.7 million. Licensing revenue also saw a robust rise, reaching £50 million from £31 million. Core profit soared to £210 million, up from £174.8 million, and licensing profit climbed to £45 million from £27 million, culminating in a profit before tax of £255 million, up from £203 million.
In light of these impressive figures and "in recognition of our staff’s contribution to these results," Games Workshop decided to distribute £20 million to its employees, an increase from the £18 million bonus given the previous year. With an estimated staff of around 1,500, this translates to a substantial £13,333 (approximately $18,000) bonus for each employee.
While Games Workshop is renowned for its miniatures used in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, the company is increasingly becoming a powerhouse in the intellectual property (IP) arena. The surge in licensing revenue is driven by successful ventures such as the video game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and animations like Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Additionally, a landmark deal was struck with Amazon for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, promising a future filled with films and television series. Fans can also look forward to the development of Space Marine 3.
Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledged that while licensing revenue reached a record high in the current period, it is not expected to repeat in the 2025/26 fiscal year. However, the company remains committed to this sector. With Warhammer 40,000 and the broader Warhammer universe experiencing unprecedented popularity, Games Workshop's trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.
The company recently hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, which was brimming with exciting announcements and trailers. Notable highlights included the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2. You can find all the details and more on our coverage of the event.
