GAMM: Experience Video Game History in Italy

Rome boasts Italy's largest video game museum! GAMM, the Game Museum, has officially opened its doors to the public in Piazza della Repubblica. The museum is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a fervent advocate for preserving and celebrating video game history, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay exploration. GAMM builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another Roman gaming museum that has welcomed over two million visitors since 2012.

This new museum, spanning 700 square meters across two floors, is organized into three captivating thematic sections. Before exploring the details, take a quick peek at the museum!

What Awaits You at GAMM:

First, discover the GAMMDOME, a dynamic digital space featuring interactive exhibits alongside authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated items. This area embodies the "4 E Concept": Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

Next, journey through the Path of Arcadia (PARC), a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of arcade games. Experience classic titles from the late 1970s and 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.

Finally, explore HIP, the Historical Playground. This section delves into game mechanics, analyzing game structures, interaction dynamics, and design principles. Consider it an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at gaming history.
