Glauco Longhi, a veteran character artist and developer, hints at a new IP in his LinkedIn profile. Returning to Santa Monica Studio earlier this year, Longhi's role involves overseeing character development for this "unannounced project." His previous work includes significant contributions to God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. His LinkedIn profile states he's "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."
Fueling speculation, Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog (director of the 2018 God of War reboot), previously indicated the studio was working on multiple projects. Further supporting the idea of an active, expanding team, Longhi's profile highlights recent recruitment efforts for a character artist and tools programmer.
While rumors point towards a sci-fi setting, potentially spearheaded by God of War 3's creative director Stig Asmussen, no official confirmation exists. Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year adds another layer to the mystery, though details remain scarce. Past speculation about a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio further fuels the ongoing intrigue.
