Golden Globe Win for Reznor and Ross Boosts Anticipation for Intergalactic Soundtrack

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the composers behind the upcoming Naughty Dog game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. This win, earned for their work on Luca Guadagnino's Challengers, further elevates excitement surrounding the Intergalactic soundtrack. A recent trailer showcased a preview of their composition, alongside licensed music featured in the game.

Reznor and Ross, renowned for their collaboration in Nine Inch Nails and their acclaimed film scores (including Academy Awards for The Social Network and Soul), are no strangers to the gaming world. Reznor previously contributed to the soundtrack of Quake (1996) and the main theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Accepting the Golden Globe from Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Ross described the Challengers score as "never…a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The contemporary, electronic sound perfectly complements the film's themes. Given their current creative peak, the Intergalactic soundtrack is poised to be a standout.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's Golden Globe Victory

The pairing of Nine Inch Nails' industrial rock pioneers with contemporary games and films might seem unexpected, yet Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated their versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul, and now, the enigmatic score for Naughty Dog's space-exploration title. With online hints suggesting a horror element in Intergalactic, their musical choices seem particularly fitting.

The Golden Globe win shines a brighter spotlight on Reznor and Ross, further fueling anticipation for Intergalactic. This could mark a significant departure for Naughty Dog, but given the composers' impeccable track record, the Intergalactic soundtrack promises an exceptional auditory experience, regardless of the game's final form.
