Hearthstone enthusiasts have a thrilling update to look forward to with the launch of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set on January 21. This Mini-Set is set to be the largest in Hearthstone's history, boasting an impressive collection of 49 new cards. This expansion not only adds depth to the gameplay but also bridges the beloved worlds of Hearthstone and StarCraft, Blizzard's iconic science fiction RTS game.
The Mini-Set was first teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, and has since generated significant buzz among fans. It includes a mix of class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique factionless neutral Legendary card named Grunty. Each of the 11 Hearthstone classes will receive three cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—will each contribute five cards, including one Legendary per faction.
The Zerg-themed cards, which can be utilized by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize swarm tactics with Zerglings and damage amplification through Hydralisks. On the other hand, the Protoss cards, accessible to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, revolve around mana manipulation to summon powerful units like the Carrier. Meanwhile, the Terran cards, available to Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior, enhance the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond set, introducing new Starship Pieces and a Mech-themed Starship.
While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price point, players have several purchasing options. A complete playset of all the new cards is available for $20 or 2500 gold, with an all-Golden version priced at $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, packs focused on Protoss, Terran, or Zerg can be bought for $10 or 1200 gold each.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone has organized two special streaming events. StarCast, happening on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two regular and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by tuning into these events on Twitch, ensuring fans don't miss out on the excitement and the free rewards.
