In a heartwarming response to fan feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back the beloved Hextech Chests. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and discover what's on the horizon for the iconic game.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
Riot Games announced the return of Hextech Chests in a developer update on their website on February 27, 2025, complemented by a detailed video on their YouTube channel. The company openly acknowledged that recent changes hadn't met player expectations, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
Hextech Chests, which had been a significant part of the player experience, will make their return in patch 25.05. Players can look forward to earning up to 10 chests and keys per act, with 8 available through the free pass and 2 more obtainable via the Honor system. Riot Games recognized the importance of Hextech Chests, noting, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Additional Fan Feedback Changes
In other news, the highly anticipated Exalted Mordekaiser skin and the entire Exalted skin line will see a delay. Riot Games explained that they want to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay means fans won't see a new Exalted skin in every Act as initially planned.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the frequency of new champion skins. Riot Games also aims to enhance player accessibility by reducing the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting in patch 25.05.
Additionally, Riot Games has reversed their decision to run Clash less frequently. The game will now return to a monthly Clash schedule, with March's event featuring ARURF and April's being a regular Summoner's Rift Clash.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Fan-favorite features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback. Your Shop is set to return in patch 25.06, while the Blue Essence Emporium will follow in 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continual improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With these updates, Riot Games demonstrates a dedicated effort to listen and respond to their community, striving to create a gaming experience that resonates with their audience.
