The Honkai series began with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG that serves as the spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter. Subsequently, Honkai Star Rail was released in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game featuring turn-based gameplay.
