In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price, who is retiring after 30 years at the helm, revealed an unfulfilled ambition: the development of Resistance 4. The game, which was pitched but never greenlit, held a special place in Price's heart. He described the concept as "wonderful" but noted that it ultimately didn't align with the market opportunity and timing.
Price expressed the team's passion for expanding the Resistance universe, an alternate history saga where the alien Chimera invade the UK in 1951. He believes the series provided a fertile ground for storytelling, particularly regarding the Chimera's origins and future developments. The Resistance series, consisting of three first-person shooters developed for the PlayStation 3, marked a significant shift for Insomniac after their work on the Ratchet and Clank franchise.
As Insomniac Games moves forward, Price announced his retirement earlier this year, naming Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as the new Co-Studio Heads. The studio's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently been made available on PC, and they are currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine.
