The announcement of Neil Druckmann's latest game, *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*, has stirred a variety of emotions among fans, and now, we finally have some initial details about its setting. Druckmann shared these insights during an appearance on the *Creator to Creator* show.
The game is set in an alternate future that diverges from our reality beginning in the late '80s. A new religion emerges in this *Intergalactic* universe, eventually becoming the dominant force. Naughty Dog has dedicated several years to crafting the intricate lore of this religion, detailing its journey from the emergence of its first prophet to its subsequent transformations and distortions.
This religion originates and spreads across a single planet, which eventually becomes isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The protagonist of the game crash-lands on this very planet, finding herself in a desolate place where she is completely alone. Survival in this isolation forms one of the central themes of the project. Druckmann highlighted that, unlike previous Naughty Dog games which typically included a companion for interaction, in *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*, players will have to navigate and solve challenges on their own if they hope to escape the planet.
Despite being in development for four years, there has been no mention of a potential release date yet. Fans will need to stay tuned for future announcements as they eagerly await more details about this intriguing new title from Naughty Dog.
